After the ceremony, people moved to a balcony overlooking the mountainous and ate seafood provided by my uncles company, Rubicon Resources, as well as appetizers and drinks from one of our favorite restaurants Red O.
Rick Bayless is one of our favorite chefs and you may recognize his name because he was on Top Chef Masters and won. But more than that neat victory, Rick Bayless and his food bring back a ton of memories for Brian and I. In Chicago, where we first met, we would go to Rick’s restaurant, Frontera for Sunday brunches or fun romantic dinners. We just loved his food. And when we moved to LA, I saw he had a place called Red O in our area, and it quickly became one of our go-to spots in the city for a great time. In the midst of trying different catering companies, we took an out-of-town guest to RedO for dinner. While we were there and fully enjoying ourselves I thought I would ask if RedO catered. And to my surprise they DID! So as you may aspect, they did not only the appetizers, but they also did our entire drink menu and dinner menu. And they were fabulous! We worked with Ryan and she managed every detail from start to finish. And everything was perfect. So if you are planning your wedding, the biggest takeaway I have to offer is go for what you as a couple LOVE. Food and drinks were so important to us, so the fact that we were able to use a restaurant that meant so much to us, was pretty spectacular.
And as you know, Bash Please, as well as Twig and Twine did an amazing job with all the details of the day. We wanted everything to have a romantic vibe, but we also wanted the Mexican flare to be present throughout. Hence the scull, tiled seating arrangements and the pipel picado celebratory flags in the ceremony and emulated in the napkins, drink decor, place mats and napkins.
And to kick off the dancing we hired, Mike Cruz of Flashdance, who had everyone up and moving. It was and incredible night filled with laughing, dancing and the food and drinks were so delicious, we will never forget this night. I have to admit that without this amazing team of people I’m not sure what I would have done.
At the end of the night, our guests gathered outside with sparklers and created a pathway that we ran though to get to our car. It was such a climactic exit and I loved seeing everyone’s faces lit up in glittery light.
