We Left Our Hearts In Santa Barbara

Santa Barbara felt so much farther away from Los Angeles than it actually is. We drove a short two hours and found ourselves in a little paradise. We had an amazing time that was full of adventure, relaxing, laughing, eating and drinking all while soaking up a lot of sun. We stayed at the fabulous Hotel Oceana and we couldn’t have asked for a better room (we had our own private rooftop deck with an amazing view).

On our first day we decided to ride bikes along the beach. I didn’t traditionally learn how to ride a bike when I was a small child; I actually took my first real spin when I was 13. During my first few months of riding I ran straight into a neighbor’s mailbox, completely taking it out. I haven’t done much bike riding since and I definitely haven’t been on a bike at all in the last 10 years. I would say with all things considered I did pretty well. Every time I rode by people I tensed up in fear I was going to plow right into them. Good news: I survived and so did everyone else completely unharmed…plus Brian had the pleasure of being entertained by my silly shortcomings.

After our daredevil bike ride, we took the edge off with a wine tasting, lunch, followed quickly by living on the edge again; we went jet skiing in the Pacific (very cold and salty) ocean. Saturday night we laughed our asses off while watching stand up with TOSH.O (p.s. I don’t recommend his comedy if you don’t have thick skin). Sad on Sunday, we ate breakfast, enjoyed our lovely view one last time and cried all the way back to L.A. All I know is we have to take many more vacations similar to this one, they are good for the soul.
